Position Overview

One of our Partners in North Carolina, is seeking a Board-Certified Anesthesiologist to provide 24-hour call coverage during designated week-long blocks in 2026. This is a critical access hospital assignment with CRNA support, a broad surgical mix, and clearly defined call and callback compensation.

  • Coverage Model: 24-hour call with paid callback

  • Setting: Critical Access Hospital (21 beds; no ICU)

  • Case Mix: Elective and emergency surgery, OB coverage

  • Support Model: CRNA support

  • Orientation: Arrival day prior to first scheduled shift required

  • Provider Pay Ranking: Top 10% nationally for anesthesiology call coverage ( market data)

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide anesthesia services for elective and emergency surgical procedures

  • Provide obstetrical anesthesia coverage

  • Manage patients under anesthesia, including airway, cardiac, and respiratory support

  • Provide perioperative pain management

  • Respond to cardiac and respiratory resuscitation events

  • Supervise and collaborate with CRNAs, surgeons, nursing staff, and ED teams

Required Procedures & Clinical Competencies

Providers must be proficient in:

  • General, regional, and obstetrical anesthesia

  • Airway management and respiratory therapy techniques

  • Cardiac and respiratory resuscitation

  • Management of fluid, electrolyte, and metabolic disturbances

  • Diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy

  • Placement and management of Swan-Ganz catheters

  • Arterial line placement

  • Central venous catheter placement and management

Clinical Volume Requirement:
Applicants must demonstrate at least 60 inpatient anesthesia cases within the past 24 months at an accredited inpatient facility, with verification permitted.

Skills & Experience
  • Board Certified in Anesthesiology (ABOA required)

  • Active North Carolina medical license

  • Active DEA

  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS required

  • Comfortable practicing independently in a critical access hospital
