CinemaKidz is a Film, Animation and Media Program serving children ages 5 to 15 in Greater Boston and New York City. Programs are offered year round in a variety of fashions including: After School courses, Workshops, In-School Programs, Birthdays, and Summer & Break Camps.
This person will assist in managing the Massachusetts teaching staff of a high-volume, fast paced children's film, media, and animation company. This role is responsible for supporting a team of roughly 6 - 10 teachers year round through programming seasons including: school year programming and summer camp time. This person will work closely with the CK Teachers, to: recruit, hire, support, train, and manage the overall quality of teaching, programming, and project output. This person also plays a key role in managing day-to-day program operations, arranging and coordinating schedules throughout the year, packing and distributing program materials, etc.
It will be this person's responsibility to inspire confidence in our teachers, set clear expectations, and provide effective leadership to the team, while ensuring a high quality experience is delivered to students, families, and partners.
This person must have strong oral and written communication skills, and must be able to think through novel problems as they present themselves, and find good solutions that benefit the company, teachers, and our clients.
This job requires someone who can learn quickly, and an independent thinker who can create excellent working systems to multi-task and keep track of projects from start to finish.
This person should have a solid background in: education, creative art fields - _film production preferred_, team management, and strong administrative skills.
Main Tasks & Duties:
Manage the team of teachers including:
One on one phone calls/zooms to ensure class progression, teacher quality, and project quality is held to CinemaKidz standards
Class observations to assess teaching effectiveness, and class quality
Support teachers through the progression of each course they are assigned to
Perform semester evaluations in conjunction with the Team Manager
Perform observations & visit classes every afternoon, M - F, as programs are in session
Provide classroom management training & support that aligns with CinemaKidz values
Troubleshoot technical and media issues as they arise
Oversee the implementation of curriculum and programming
Perform zoom footage reviews to assess quality of work, and to provide additional ways to improve quality of output
Help prepare, manage, and distribute materials to program sites and teachers
Help maintain & organize material facility in Somerville
Develop, support, and implement various support mechanisms, and team culture strategies
Cover classes as needed
Act as representative and the face of CinemaKidz when interacting with clients and important partners
Help develop, refine, and implement new program curriculum aligned with the CinemaKidz mission
Facilitate & Teach educational programs year round including: camps, after school, special workshops, and more
Maintain clear communication lines with leadership team
Manage day to day issues as they come in
Required Competencies:
_MUST_ be passionate about the arts & education!
3+ years experience working with groups of children (i.e. Leading afterschool classes, working in a classroom, leading summer camps, etc.)
2+ years experience managing and training a similarly sized team
2+ years administrative & coordinating experience
Experience recruiting, performing interviews, vetting staff, and hiring _highly preferred_
Experience developing, creating, and implementing curriculum
Experience in film production _highly preferred_
Highly tech savvy, specifically the ability to troubleshoot various software/apps/google suite/Apple workflows
An artist yourself, with a passion for media arts, and experience in a variety of creative mediums
Excellent time management and proactive planning skills.
_Must hav_e a smartphone, and own personal computer
_Mus_t be able to lift 25 - 35 pounds regularly, and walk up stairs
Driver's license & car _required_
Must be able to pass all required background checks and clearances
Location: A combination of remote work during the day, as well as site visits in the afternoons throughout Boston & Greater Boston, where the program exists. Visits to NYC Headquarters for meetings roughly each quarter. Material manegament done at facility in Somerville.
During school year: hybrid schedule, required daily afternoon site visits , as well as occasional coverage for a class in Greater Boston. Must be able to pivot to in-person easily
Summer camp season: On site at summer camp locations throughout greater boston
Schedule: Monday - Friday 15 to 25 hours/week falling between the hours of 9am - 5pm. Seasonal time off when schools are closed and/or when programs are not in session. A hybrid Schedule
