Job Description:
The Family Law Associate will represent clients in family law cases and assist in all aspects of family law litigation, including legal research, drafting legal documents, communication with clients, and appearing in court, mediation, arbitration, etc. The role requires a compassionate, detail-oriented attorney who is skilled at handling sensitive legal matters with tact and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Client Representation
Provide legal advice to clients in family law matters, including divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, and domestic violence.
Conduct client consultations to assess legal issues and gather relevant information
Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, and court hearings.
2. Legal Research and Analysis
Conduct thorough legal research on case law, statutes, and regulations related to family law matters.
Analyze case facts and apply relevant law to provide informed legal advice.
3. Document Preparation
Draft pleadings, motions, agreements, and other legal documents.
Prepare discovery requests and responses, including interrogatories, subpoenas, and document production.
Draft settlement agreements and child custody arrangements.
4. Court Appearances
Attend hearings, trials, and conferences, advocating on behalf of clients.
5. Case Management
Manage a caseload of family law cases from intake through resolution.
Maintain accurate and organized case files and client communication.
Work with paralegals and legal assistants to ensure timely and efficient case management.
6. Client Communication
Regularly communicate with clients to keep them informed about case progress and strategy.
Provide compassionate and empathetic guidance, understanding the emotional nature of family law cases.
7. Collaborative Work
Collaborate with senior attorneys and legal teams to develop case strategies and achieve favorable outcome for clients.
Participate in team meetings and provide updates on case status.
Qualifications:
Juris Doctor (J.D) degree from an accredited law school.
Licensed to practice in the state of New Jersey
1-3 years of family law experience preferred, including litigation experience.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organizational and case management skills.
Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple cases simultaneously
