Summary
SUMMARY
Designs, implements and evaluates strategically aligned programs that contribute to the orientation and on- going competence of staff (RNs, LVNs, CNAs, Techs, and others who support clinical activity.) Responsible for clinical education and training programs designed to meet the learning and development needs of staff throughout the continuum of care. This may include one or several areas of clinical specialty, e.g., Medical- Surgical, Perioperative, Critical Care, LTC. It may also include HIT (Healthcare IT) expertise across the full range of patient, organizational, and individual applications in use, and it may include training in skill is essential to working effectively in a fast-paced public hospital and ambulatory care environment. Performs related duties as required.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing; MSN or MS degree preferred. For LTC: RN Director of Staff Development by the State of CA.
Minimum Experience: Six months to one year as a clinical instructor in a hospital or academic setting.
Minimum Experience: Two-five years clinical experience in the area of expertise.
Required Licenses/Certifications: ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification - issued by AHA - American Heart Association. For LTC: ACLS not required
Required Licenses/Certifications: BLS - Basic Life Support Certification - issued by AHA-American Heart Association.
Required Licenses/Certifications: PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support Certification- AHA American Heart Association (Required for Emergency Department or if overseeing or providing pediatric care on a regular basis). For LTC: PALs not required
Required Licenses/Certifications: Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of California. For LTC must have California licensure and Director of Staff Development certification (must obtain within six months of employment).
PAY RANGE
$35.32 to $58.85 per hour
The pay range for this position reflects the base pay scale for the role at Alameda Health System. Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, departmental equity, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and the operational needs of the organization.
