Correctional Officer

Oconto County Sheriff's Office is accepting applications to hire Full-Time Female Correctional Officer as well as create an eligibility list. Position may require rotating shifts with varying days off. Experience helpful but not necessary. Must pass State Certification within the first year of employment. Starting wage is $23.17/hr. plus premium pay. Excellent benefit package including State Retirement.

Responsible for the security of the facility and overseeing the security and conduct of inmates. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Understand and follow verbal orders given by supervisors and written procedures and regulations. Make effective decisions and exercise good judgment under stressful situations. Work quickly and efficiently under constantly changing job demands.

Qualifications include High school graduate or GED equivalent. Two-Year or Four-Year Corrections Officer/Law Enforcement Degree preferred but not required. Possess a valid driver's license. Have no criminal convictions.
