DSP
Residential Management Services, Inc. is seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSP) who are direct care staff for individuals with developmental/intellectual disabilities for our homes in the Wallingford Area. Part-time hours available.
Duties include:
Professional positive supports to people with intellectual disabilities
Teaching skills to each person served to promote quality of life.
Actively learning about the interests, support needs and skills of each person served through direct interaction, observation, insights of other staff team members, family members, etc.
Establishing positive relationships with each person served, co- workers, family members and other people who are important in the individual's life
Providing assistance as appropriate to each individual in personal care and hygiene
Working as team member to ensure household cleanliness and safety standards are in full compliance with DDS and R.M.S. requirements
Correctly and accurately completing all required documentation
Observing and monitoring each individual during each shift to identify any changes in health status or other concerns
Providing safe transportation with an agency vehicle
Qualifications include:
At least 18 years old
Valid CT Driver's License, good driving record and available means of transportation
High School diploma or GED
Good communication skills, able to present information in a clear manner
Knowledge of general computer use
Ability to lift and transfer up to 30 pounds
Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is a plus
