The Role
The Enabling Technologies team within our client's Cranial & Spinal Technologies (CST) operating unit is seeking a contract Electrical CAD Expert to support an urgent initiative involving the transfer of electrical board layouts from Cadence to Altium. This role will primarily focus on PCB layout and schematic translation-not schematic design-and will require deep expertise with Altium and electrical CAD tooling.
This individual will work onsite in Lafayette, CO and collaborate closely with both the local electrical engineering team and a sister site based in Israel. The ideal candidate is highly technical, detail-oriented, and able to work independently with early-morning flexibility preferred.
Responsibilities
Support the transfer of 15 electrical boards from Cadence to Altium
Serve as layout lead, producing artwork and ensuring quality during schematic transfers
Collaborate with a global team of electrical engineers, including partners in Israel
Ensure CAD documentation is up to date and consistent across tools and versions
Provide insights or best practices for layout optimization and CAD tool usage
Must-Have Skills
Proficiency in Altium Designer (schematic and layout)
Expertise in PCB layout, with a strong eye for detail and quality
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
Background as a technician or engineer in electrical/electronic design
Nice to Have
Prior experience migrating between CAD tools (e.g., Cadence to Altium)
Familiarity with Medtronic or medical device standards (not required)
Experience working with global or remote electrical engineering teams
Comfortable starting early mornings to align with cross-site collaboration
