Fire Alarm CAD Drafter
The Fire Alarm CAD Drafter will be responsible for layout and drafting of fire alarm systems in compliance with AHJ Requirements, applicable codes and standards, and project specifications. A successful candidate will be responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of all associated jobs.
Key responsibilities
+ Ability to read project documents, such as mechanical, electrical, and architectural drawings as well as project manuals and specifications for design build fire alarm systems.
+ Interpret redlines, design mark-ups, and project notes to incorporate revisions and updates into project drawings.
+ Develop comprehensive and complex fire alarm drawings, including single line riser diagrams, wiring schematics, and device layouts ensuring compliance with project specifications, local codes, and standards.
+ Coordinate with project managers and other key stakeholders throughout all phases of the project life cycle.
+ Update and maintain accurate fire alarm as-built drawings to reflect field conditions, system modifications, and project changes.
+ Prepare and compile detailed fire alarm documentation for Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) review and project close out packages, including system drawings, specifications, and product date sheets.
Basic Qualifications
+ High school diploma or equivalent.
+ Working knowledge of AutoCAD and other support tools (i.e. Word, Excel, and Revu) required to perform responsibilities.
+ Strong aptitude for quickly learning and utilizing new technology and software.
+ Ability to interpret project drawings and apply applicable fire alarm codes and standards to develop accurate and compliant design drawings.
+ Strong oral and written communication skills.
+ Strong time management skills with the ability to multi-task.
Preferred Qualifications
+ NICET Level 1 or higher in Fire Alarm Systems.
+ Drafting experience in fire alarm or other low-voltage systems.
+ Working knowledge of fire alarm systems and basic electronic principles such as Ohm's law, relay logic, and circuitry.
+ Proven knowledge of NFPA 72 standards, National Electrical Code, California Building Code, California Fire Code, and other relevant fire/ life safety codes and standards.
+ Proven industry experience working on commercial, healthcare, educational, and/or residential projects.
