About the Role:
We're hiring a Food Service Technician to support food preparation and service at our Brooklyn-based center. This is a part-time position (2 days/week), ideal for someone reliable, efficient, and committed to safe food handling practices.
Responsibilities include:
Prepping, cooking, and serving meals
Cleaning and storing fresh and cooked food
Receiving, unpacking, and storing food deliveries
Maintaining cleanliness and organization in food storage areas
Managing food inventory
Cleaning kitchen/dining areas when needed
Using kitchen tools/equipment (e.g., knives, slicer) safely
Supporting volunteers and assisting with general operations
Requirements:
Food Handler's Certificate required
High School Diploma or GED preferred
Must be able to lift heavy items, stand for long periods, and climb stairs
Basic computer skills; ability to learn internal software
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
