About the Opportunity:
Meridian Contracting is seeking a Heavy Industrial / Civil Superintendent to lead our recent awarded Industrial Project This role provides direct oversight of equipment installation, piping, rigging, and process system tie-ins - post project the role will focus on heavy civil for supporting scopes such as concrete foundations, earthwork, and site improvements .
This Superintendent will deliver a critical industrial project and then continue supporting a mix of industrial and heavy civil projects across Arizona and New Mexico.
Successful Team Members in This Role Will
Supervise mechanical installation of belt presses, pumps, piping systems, and structural steel supports
Oversee rigging, equipment setting, alignment, and anchoring per mechanical drawings and specifications
Manage mechanical crews and subcontractors including pipefitters, welders, millwrights, and rigging teams
Ensure strict QA/QC for welding, bolting, and equipment tie-ins
Coordinate field activities with engineers, inspectors, and vendors
Support civil tasks such as concrete foundations, flatwork, excavation, and site grading
Lead daily safety briefings, planning sessions, and production meetings
Track manpower, cost, and progress against schedules while reporting to project management
A Day in the Life of a Superintendent:
Begin the day with a crew huddle covering lift plans, mechanical work, and safety focus items
Review and interpret mechanical drawings/P&IDs to guide installation activities
Supervise the setting of major equipment and piping tie-ins
Walk civil work areas to ensure site readiness and concrete QA/QC
Resolve on-site challenges with crews, inspectors, or vendors
Provide progress updates to owners and project managers
Close the day with manpower planning and next-day activity scheduling
Measurements of Success:
Safe, high-quality installation of the Los Alamos Belt Press system
Effective oversight of both industrial mechanical and civil support scopes
On-time and on-budget delivery of project milestones
Strong team cohesion and subcontractor performance
Positive relationships with clients, inspectors, and project partners
Qualifications:
7+ years of Superintendent experience in industrial mechanical and/or heavy civil construction
Proven expertise with equipment installation, alignment, and piping systems
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and structural details
Experience managing rigging crews, welders, pipefitters, and millwrights
Knowledge of civil methods including concrete and earthwork
Strong leadership and communication skills with a safety-first mindset
Wastewater treatment plant or process facility experience preferred
Willingness to travel regionally for future projects
