Job Description: Project Engineer - Steel Buildings
Position Overview
The Project Engineer will support the estimating, planning, coordination, and execution of steel building projects from concept through completion. This role requires technical knowledge of structural steel, strong project management skills, and the ability to collaborate with design, fabrication, and construction teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with specifications and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Assist Project Managers in planning, scheduling, and coordinating steel building projects.
Review drawings and specifications to ensure accuracy and constructability.
Coordinate with architects, engineers, fabricators, and subcontractors to resolve design or field issues.
Prepare RFIs, submittals, and technical documentation.
Track project progress, budgets, and schedules; identify potential risks and assist in mitigation.
Conduct site visits to monitor installation, quality control, and compliance with safety standards.
Support procurement by reviewing material take-offs, steel orders, and vendor quotes.
Ensure adherence to building codes, engineering standards, and company policies.
Provide technical support to field crews during erection and installation of steel structures.
Prepare project closeout documentation, including as-built drawings, warranties, and O&M manuals.
Basic estimating.
Background check, clean driving record and pre-employment drug screen.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent field experience).
2+ years of experience in structural steel, pre-engineered metal buildings, or commercial/industrial construction preferred.
Strong understanding of steel design, fabrication, and erection processes.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Tekla, Revit, or similar software is an asset.
Knowledge of building codes (IBC, AISC, AWS) and construction safety standards (OSHA) preferred.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively under deadlines.
Willingness to travel to project sites as required.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
