Job Overview:
Established commercial general contractor based in the Milwaukee area is seeking an experienced Project Site Superintendent. This position offers the opportunity to oversee projects for some of the country's best-known brands. Candidates should possess a positive, team-player attitude and be able to run commercial projects in the $1 million to $5 million range. While most projects are located in southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois, some travel may be required throughout the Midwest (up to eight hours from Milwaukee). Skills and Responsibilities:
Coordinate and supervise all construction activities.
Direct all field personnel to achieve completion of the project on schedule, within budget, with quality workmanship that conforms to original plans and specifications.
Maintain construction schedules, identifies and solves problems.
Schedule deliveries and schedule inspections as necessary throughout the process.
Understand the project plans and specifications.
Understand the subcontractor-contracted scope of work and perimeters.
Maintain positive relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and other employees.
Take progress images of the site daily and distribute to the project team.
Work with the Project Manager on a daily basis to resolve issues, warranty items, scheduling, contract management, change order management and other job-related coordination.
Prepare, schedule and supervise completion of a final punch list.
Promote job site safety, encourage safe work practices and rectify job hazards immediately.
Ensure all company employees and contractors are adhering to safety policies.
Maintain an organized job site, including the construction office or work area.
Travel to job sites if needed.
Education Requirements:
High School Diploma
Associate or bachelor's degree, ideally in construction or engineering, or equivalent experience
Work Experience:
5+ years of successful project superintendent work in the commercial construction industry for a general contractor.
Specific experience overseeing projects in our niche/growth areas of restaurant/retail, auto dealerships, and/or convenience stores a plus.
Desired Technical Competencies:
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Scheduling Software and iPad
Desired Professional Competencies :
Strong organizational skills.
Strong written and oral communications skills and effective listening skills.
Ability to analyze problems and make sound decisions in a timely manner based on objectives, risks, implications and costs.
Tactful and mature demeanor with well-developed interpersonal skills including the ability to work well with diverse personalities.
