Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Paraprofessional to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will work closely with students with disabilities, including those on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), to provide support in their academic and social development. This role requires a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment and helping students achieve their educational goals.
Responsibilities
Assist the lead teacher in implementing IEPs and adapting curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students.
Provide one-on-one support to students with autism and other disabilities, ensuring they can participate fully in classroom activities.
Help manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning environment through effective classroom management techniques.
Support literacy education by assisting students with reading and writing tasks, promoting literacy development.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and other staff members regarding student progress and needs.
Collaborate with teachers in curriculum development to create engaging learning experiences tailored to individual student needs.
Monitor student progress and assist in the assessment of educational outcomes.
Qualifications
Experience working with children, particularly those with disabilities or special needs.
Knowledge of IEP processes and strategies for supporting students with autism and other developmental challenges.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with students, parents, and staff.
Ability to manage classroom dynamics and foster a supportive learning environment.
Experience in literacy education is preferred but not required.
A background in childcare or related fields is advantageous.
Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping children succeed academically and socially.
