Opportunity:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Trial-Arbitration Attorney to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in California employment law, with specific experience in handling PAGA cases and class action work. Additionally, the candidate should be able to handle cases with both wage/hour and FEHA components. This position would be hybrid/remote, with occasional in-person meetings as needed.

General Accountabilities:
Appear at Court hearings for, among other things, Motion for Preliminary Approval, Motion for Final Approval, Status Conferences (after settlement), and Accounting Hearings after disbursement
Communicate with clients, and Settlement Administrators, and coordinate with staff who also communicate with the Settlement Administrator and review Class Notices.
Keep track of Proposed Orders filed with the Court for signature to begin settlement administration.
Coordinate with staff to ensure all dates are calendared, including hearings, deadlines to submit briefings, administration deadlines, and payment schedules.
Supervise staff to ensure filings are completed, follow-ups with clients are completed regarding the signing of settlement agreements and declarations, and client updates are timely performed, among other things.
Provide recommendations on settlement negotiations.
Ensure the firm's Accountant is kept apprised of all funds entering in and exiting the firm, which includes forwarding settlement agreements and settlement distributions, explaining how funds are to be distributed, how funds are designated pursuant to the settlement agreement, any referrals to be paid, expected payment timeline, coordinating to ensure clients are timely paid, and ensuring the Accountant receives a scanned copy of all checks received by the firm, among other things.

Prepare the following:
Drafts of Wage and Hour Class Action and PAGA Action Settlement Agreements.
Drafts of Individual Claims Settlement Agreements and Settlement Distributions.
Drafts of Class Notices and obtain bids from Settlement Administrators.
Drafts of Motions for Preliminary Approval, including client declaration, Proposed Order, settlement administrator declaration, and Proof of Service.
Drafts of Motions for Final Approval, including client declaration, Proposed Order, Proposed Judgment, settlement administrator declaration, and Proof of Service.
Stipulations to Amend Complaints in settled cases and Prepare Amended Complaints.
Attorney declarations in support of Motions.
Joint Reports on settled cases.
Requests for Dismissal, without prejudice, of Class and/or PAGA claims along with declaration and proposed order.
Requests for Dismissal with prejudice when appropriate.
Amended Proposed Orders and Judgments consistent with final Court rulings after Preliminary and/or Final Approval.

Job Qualifications:
Education: CA Bar License
Experience: minimum of 2 years of employment and/or class action litigation (excluding any experience in workers' compensation).
Bilingual (strongly preferred, but not required)

Ability to work well under pressure
Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment and handle multiple priorities in a timely and professional manner
Approachable and enthusiastic
Proficient in software programs such as Filevine, GSuite, Microsoft Office, Adobe, and Excel, or other similar software programs necessary to perform essential duties of the position
